Sender ID
Custom Sender ID for Sri Lankan SMS
A Sender ID is the name or number shown on the handset when your SMS arrives. VeloBotix registers alphanumeric brand IDs with Sri Lankan operators so customers trust OTP and campaign messages.
Why Sender ID matters
Random numbers look like spam. A registered brand name (“YourShop”) improves OTP completion and campaign open rates.
Use the same Sender ID for transactional and marketing so customers learn the name.
Registration process
Submit your brand name during onboarding. VeloBotix handles operator registration — usually 1–2 business days for Dialog, Mobitel, Hutch and Airtel.
Sender ID is included on VeloBotix plans. No separate gateway account needed.
Questions people ask
- Can I use one Sender ID for OTP and bulk SMS?
- Yes. That is the recommended pattern so customers recognise your brand on login codes and promotions.
- Does Unicode affect Sender ID?
- No. Sender ID is separate from message encoding. Unicode only affects how many credits the message body uses.
